Marcela's Scoliosis Surgery before and after!

I had scoliosis surgery one month ago May 27, 2010 at 19. I watched many of these videos to prepare, so I thought I'd give back! I wore a back brace to school for two years and one at night. . I had an S curve of 60 and 50 degrees going into surgery and came out almost completely straight. Surgery scared me because of all the risks and pain. The journey has been very difficult, but so far I don't regret a thing! I thank god for my friends and family helping me to make it through this, especially my mother, with out her I would have not been able to heal inside and out. I had this operation at the Baylor Scoliosis Center in Texas, this video shows my before during and recovery of the surgery. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. follow me @marcelaaubrey

So have you been able to go back to dancing?

@Emster007 I can dance now, but i have not taken any classes or been on any more teams or anything like that, though i think i could if i had the time. I do hip hop dance moves to work out and I don't notice a restrain unless I really arch my back, but it doesn't hurt.

@mckennamillsap o yes, about an hour or so later haha, i was very out of it and just freaked out for nothing. I was lying on my stomach with my hands out infront of my head for over 7 hrs, thus they became numb for a while.

@SquigglyBuddies14 Hey.. wow two surgeries, you are very brave! I'm glad things turned out well! does your twin have any curvature?

I have a twin too!! =) I also had scoliosis. My curvature was 107 degrees, and after 2 surgeries, I became 35 degrees.

@mckennamillsap haha yeah a few hours later. They were just completely numb because of the way I was laying for the 7 hr surgery. I was definitely freaking out for like an hour though! I thought it was permanent ha. i was very out of it.
