Dear Doug,
By "lighten up" do you mean that I should lighten up the pressure on you because you are teaching only the introductory level of Tai Chi and not acupuncture? How do those energy centres generate energy in Tai Chi? Are you just quoting ancient Chinese texts without relating them to modern medical knowledge? Do you just accept what the old wise Chinese sages' teachings blindly? Your descriptions of the DanTian (not tien) and Mengmen (not mingmen) are not accurate enough anatomically.

Mr. Douglas,
Can't answer the second part of the question regarding the Mengmen? Is that in any of your books or DVDs or...? I ask for an anatomical description of both of the structures. Are they internal organs that give extra energy to people who practice Tai Chi? Please do not avoid the questions!!!!!

Mr. Douglas,
Do you know where is the Dantian anatomically? Where is the Mengmen anatomically?

Other than the self premotion stuff at the begining this really worked....and was a really easy work out.

self promotion isn't a bad thing.

Haha, right? terrible
No, I mean all your exclamation marks indicate that you're all wound up about this issue. The energy systems of the body are affected negatively when you tighten up around things. In my video I talk about full qigong breathing techniques and how to all the body, mind and heart to "let go" of our grip on life issues.
Over 30 years of Tai Chi and Qigong practice, I've found that these powerful mind body tools are more about "letting go" than about anything else.

George, lighten up.
The dan tien and mingmen (or gate of life) are energy centers in the lower back and frontal upper pelvis. The acupuncture/energy systems are not related to organs, but the energy impacts organs.
My book and my DVD are introductions to Tai Chi & Qigong, focusing on the loosening and stress management aspects of these ancient systems.
Acupuncture texts can give you much greater detail on acupuncture systems. My focus is on mind body loosening to un-stress for health.

Yes, I go into detail on the dan tien in my best selling tai chi book "The Complete Idiot's Guide to T'ai Chi & Qigong" (Alpha-Penguin Books). I also go into great detail on the dan tien and postural alignment on my 4 hour fully instructional DVD at SMARTaichi, just google it.
Also, my new mind-body thriller novel "2012 The Awakening" has just come out and is available on amazon, search "2012 The Awakening paperback" to find it.
