@physhythoughts the buildings were ALL temporary. Instead of limestone or granite the facades were made of plaster. Even Burnham suggested the entire White City be torched or blown up for the finale of the fair. The museum was one of the only building that were built structurally sound and even then was updated.
This is pretty bad. They seem informed but they could have visited some of the original locations like 63rd and Wallace and Jackson Park or even the Rookery instead of random video.
Most of the buildings weren't temporary. In fact, after the buildings from the Paris exposition faded into disrepair, Burnham was determined not to let such a glorious fair fall to the same fate. And as for Holmes forcing women to reveal where their valuable were, he didn't force people. They were easily smitten by him and his looks.
Have you read "The Devil in the White City"? You showed a picture of it, so I assumed you did.
