1.5 amps, damn you would run a 12 volt inverter and power some house appliances from about 8/9 of those in series.

@arainboldt this is air battery, not earth.

AFAIK, the zinc ribbon overlapping does not effect the battery, it should only make it better.

Its been about a year, is there a "How To" video yet?

Very nice design and results !

What sort of battery could you build for $2,000?
I need to support my 5k btu 563 watt AC,computer, & a light at a max 783 watts drawing 6.7 amps (though avg. 417 watts when cycling at 70% & PC offtime.) steady or atleast for 72 hrs. & recharge in 1/2 hr or less, preferably never :)

Hi there,
I'm wondering if you are still testing/working on the air battery?
If so, is the magnesium being eaten or not?
I'm trying to construct one that does not oxidate.

don't let that light go to wast use the light on a 3d solar panal a large round panal with mirrors on the out side of the solar cell magnified crystals and use HID bulbs ,form it as a cylinder the light would bounds off the 3d solar go back up to the mirrors and then come back down keeping all the light, going around a circle pumping out some power indoors, then hook up a heavy power line to your power meter and let the power co. pay you for useing your power.the meter will spin backwards

Have you tried recharging them?

To make them more durable maybe use a thin cloth instead of the paper towel ?
Very important question to be answered for all before Building.
1) HOW LONG does the magnesium last before it completely deteriorates?
2) Does the power output out way the COST, or does the cost out way the power output
I love your project, I learned a lot from you. Although some ppl my be mislead to thinking this will last a very long time. The fact is, that the magnesium will deteriorate pretty quickly and the cost is not worth the money for alternative energy. At least not with magnesium.

Do you know this from experience? A roll of magnesium ribbon costs $3.50 if you buy in bulk. In my tests after one months time my air batteries were still working fine. I am starting some long term tests now. Based on my personal experience I think this is a very good alternative energy for many situations.
