Childhood was very huge almost all of what you described i can relate to what with the dinosaurs n stuff it was a time when things didnt really matter so long as you have fun yeah now that we are adults it seems to have as you said killed the magic. I can remember going to hunstanton alot when i was younger but if i go there now im not interested in all the things i used to be like candy floss or the 2p machines. Being an adult is really tough.

Great video. I think it was the Hawaiians who came up with the concept of every person having a sort of inner fire inside them that represents their happiness and enjoyment of the world. They believe that as you grow up, life tends to throw rocks into your fire, and so the older you get, the less spontaneously happy you get.
I personally believe that the ability to enjoy the world around you is a skill in its own, and perhaps that skill dies out as its not very practical in our culture/society.

@Acceleron3000 That's an interesting thought. I don't think we have as much time to reflect and enjoy life; this appears to be due to the frantic nature of modern urban living.

On a positive note, I personally still find the world 'magical', though perhaps magical is not the word to use... it is filled with wonders and surprises, be it by studying science, or behavioural psychology, or the 'miracles' of technology... being adults doesn't rob us of our sense of wonder, but perhaps what being grown-up has come to mean does lead to that...

@MrCalcaneus There are still incredible moments without a doubt, but they seem shorter lived and less intense than they were when I was a child. There were times when it felt like I was stuck in a time bubble where an amazing experience would seem to go on forever. Experiences felt very strong back then as well; you could almost taste them. However, a bonus of leaving childhood is that a whole raft of things that were once meaningless gradually become something to enjoy.
