Reconstructin of a historical tower in Amsterdam. The Jan Rooden Gate Tower stood for centuries along Amsterdam's Single canal but was torn down near the end of the 19th century due to neglect and the general modernizing trend of the age. With that one of Amsterdam's signature towers disappeared along with the Haring Packers Tower several hundred meters to the north. Both of these towers had splendid spires with clocks and bells designed by Hendrik de Keyser, the great baumeister of late renaissance Amsterdam. There is currently a movement to have these towers rebuilt at their original locations.
