SIGG Aluminium Box - Mini

I think this box was manufactured primarily as a lunch box, but as the manufacturer states, it has many uses. I had been looking for a new survival tin, something bigger than the typical pocket-sized aluminum tin and I had come across the SIGG Aluminum Box.

The lid has a watertight silcone seal. I thought about cooking using the SIGG Aluminum Box, but the box has silicon pads on the latches (to not mark other boxes when stacking), so I'm not sure using this box as a cooking vessel will work.

Silicone rubber should survive a spirit flame, but not necessarily a wood flame. Trangia have a small mess tin and lid combo (doesn't seal). Is not great for cooking because the lid, being a simple over the edge design, draws in any fumes from incomplete combustion which can be noticable with wood or hexamine fuel.

I don't think I personally would use the SIGG as a mess kit unless it was my last resort. However, I am looking for a kit that combines all items, a decent cooking kit that also contains survival items. I do own the Trangia Mess Kit (small) you speak of. I will be playing around with that one next.

@MsSpy In survival mode it is your only resort, it is your cook/mess tin, you wont worry about the seals. The Trangia is a nice size, and light and wrapping around the lid with duct tape will protect the contents of an emergency only kit. Fits most of my coat pockets.
