Red Steel was the first, first-person shooter ever to appear on the Wii. It also boasted the first leaked screenshots for the console (code-named "revolution" at the time). Some may remember the "concept art cutscenes" and zooming by forcing the Wiimote forward until your arm detatches from its socket. If anything, this game showed developers what NOT to do in a first person shooter game on the Wii. It set back the genre and made large bounding boxes taboo on the system. However, this level makes the game worthwhile.

The whole underground complex boasts psycological challanges around every corner. A [scientifically proven] nutcase speaks through robotic bunnies, giving you "instructions" for what to do in each of the main areas in the level. It features the toughest enemies, whom are all dressed up in costumes to match their designated theme.

One area is pitch black and all you can see are the enemie's white light-up masks. Another has a bunch of life-sized statues and dolls and all the enemies are dressed like the dolls with tutus and pink hair. Another area is themed in a prehistoric time period, and you're blasting large eggs to fight guys in dino suits. You'll ride a rollercoaster with explosives set around the track, and along the way you'll fight Power Rangers in climatic swordfighting showdowns.

This feels like the most complete one; the leaked screens were from it. Crazy, difficult, AND fun, Tetsuo's Games is one of the Wii's first gems!

  • I actually really like Red Steel. I finally beat this level a few hours ago. I actually don't think nearly as bad as you make it sound in the description. However, I do think that the sequel will be better, especially because of the Wii motionplus

  • the controls were problematic. sure, aiming is fun, but when you have to aim at the side of the screen to turn the camera it gets annoying. wii motionplus is just used for swords, not aiming.

but ubisoft announced manual adjustments for the controls, so large bounding boxes and anything else about the controls could be fixed. let's just hope the default controls work.

  • Oh God. Tetsuo's Games... I spent soooo much time on those things trying not to be brained by an incoming bullet.

I actually liked Red Steel, though. Despite it's flaws, I found it rather enjoyable.

  • the AI is so cheap on this level! i shot people in the head and chest several times before they die! and all they do is shoot you twice and you're a gonner. plus, they almost NEVER miss!

  • You cannot grasp the True Form of Tetsuos Games!

  • what?
