Braun was bought out by Proctor and Gamble in 2008 which is a coffee competitor to Kraft, so Brauns developers worked with Bosh, who took over the building of the new machine and improved it in certain areas, noise being one of them. I just bought a Bosh T45 unit and I'm loving it.
The Braun took like 24 seconds to make the drink and the Bosh about 34 seconds. When you hear the steam sound from the Bosh, it means it's cleaning the tip where the drink came out. You have to wait a few seconds for the dripping to stop. The Braun from cold start takes over 30 seconds to just heat the water where as the Bosh is instant. The Bosh is a lot quieter and has a water filter in the water jug.
omg that Braun is horribly loud! I'm looking for a single serve coffee machine for my dorm room this fall and that would definately wake up my roommate...and probably the people down the hall too! Thanks for posting this
Quieter, yes - but if I timed it right the Bosch took much longer to brew (I am assuming the same type of disc was used). It only tool 23 seconds on the Braun but almost a minute with the Bosch

You need to wait for the water to be warmed on the Braun model, no such wait on the bosh, the guys who made the video cheated.
