Lucky you! I'd LOVE to "discover" her again. What a revelation.
(First heard Caleb Meyer, noted what a powerful lyric it is, how amazingly straightforward and unrepentant a recitation of alcohol abuse, rape and murder...then realized the guitar work was like nothing I'd ever heard before too. Then started checking the proposition "All her stuff can't be this good, can it?". That was a wonderful and rewarding couple of weeks, man.)

Rather, it inspired me to send her money to cover the downloads I have of all her music, in an amount greater than she would have gotten from the record companies. Cheaper for me, too.

:Here's some truth: Even better than being "authentic"is being connected to the real life things that trad music is connected to and that give it value, as Gillian clearly is. Your so-called "authenticity" is a cheap academic facade covering your inability to appreciate that. Using music as a prop for your desperate, ego-driven pontifications is (honestly and authentically) sad.
