Something completely different from what I usually do. Let me know if you like it and I'll do it more often
Avenge, O Lord, thy slaughtered saints, whose bones Lie scattered on the Alpine mountains cold; Even them who kept thy truth so pure of old,
When all our fathers worshiped stocks and stones,
Forget not: in thy book record their groans Who were thy sheep, and in their ancient fold Slain by the bloody Piedmontese, that rolled
Mother with infant down the rocks. Their moans
The vales redoubled to the hills, and they To heaven. Their martyred blood and ashes sow
O'er all the Italian fields, where still doth sway The triple Tyrant; that from these may grow A hundredfold, who, having learnt thy way, Early may fly the Babylonian woe.
Enjoy!
Soo, the Fleet Foxes get their inspiration from Milton's "On the Late Massacre in Piedmont?" Cool song!

this is miltton's greatest poem--he got it from reports read to him in what counted at newspapers at the i I am catholic but this poem is beyond that-- do you know why he says Avenge Oh Lord..because he had written to the protestant powers all of them and they did nothing--kind of like Dr King the martyrs in Miss and blessed Jimmie Lee Jackson deacon at St James Baptist Church in Alabama slaughtered for trying to protect his mother

of course its a masterpiece. Surely Milton in one of the greatest poets in english. Its about a massacre in 1655, by the intolerant catholics. Well Im catholic, and thnk that history is full of religion crimes from both sides.its a shame, but seems that man is basically cimminal, no matter what he believes
