Lyrics:
You're in your world and I'm in mine
But I think that it's time
To build a bridge between our hearts
For I don't like being apart
Please don't judge what you don't know
Sometimes all I need is a place to go
I'm not sure how to read your face
Or how to win your social grace

A little understanding
A bit of compassion
Would bridge our worlds (bridge our worlds)
A little understanding
A bit of compassion
Would bridge our worlds (bridge our worlds)
In a beautiful fashion

It's hard to change your world
To fit mine
Maybe we could change your world
World's design
A little understanding
A bit of compassion
Would bridge our worlds (bridge our worlds)
A little understanding
A bit of compassion
Would bridge our worlds (bridge our worlds)
In a beautiful fashion

Synopsis:
Obviously there is only one world but if you have autism sometimes it feels like you're in your own world and no one understands you.....or maybe we all feel like that sometimes........
All it takes is a little understanding and a bit of compassion to bridge our worlds :) Enjoy, be inspired, be moved, and think about it the next time you encounter someone with autism or other special needs.

This song was written as a poem by Debbie Stanley, a 6th grade special ed teacher who specializes in autism. She has a heart for people with special needs and especially autism and her passion and knowledge is contagious! Debbie started an entire program from her poem Bridging Our Worlds educating people about autism and the benefits of having special needs people in the workplace. From there her daughter took the poem to her friend Bill Fleming who put the musical and vocal arrangement to it and Rick Dixon played the instruments and produced everything during this recording heard here. Debbie Stanley's daughter, Heather Stanley is the featured singer on the song and put together the slideshow video. Debbie and some of her students are featured in the slideshow as well as the POPS kids at White Pines Middle School.
