Also this fire was not in Bellevue, it was in Ben Avon boro which is approximatly 2 miles away, on our 1st alarm structural responses 108 truck was added and since they have a paid driver 24 hours a day he is able to get the truck there quickly so it can be placed in the front of the structure.. All I can say is the initial 1st alarm did a great job and I thank them even after in the first few minutes of fire attack the 3rd floor flashed as the first attack crew was advancing.

I was in command of this fire for the first 30-40 mintues. Roofers were installing box gutters and using a rubber material to line the inside of the gutter, they were using a portable propane tank to heat and melt the material. They accidently lit the roof on fire and there was a long delay in calling 911 since the workers tried putting it out themselves. When the 1st alarm companies arrived the 3rd floor was already was well involved.

Ya that was sad but the christmas presents the parents bought for their kids were saved. The kids got there christmas presents that day.

Nice work! I'd say you had a good response time / attack, b/c any propane fire I've been on, the building is usually so saturated it ends up being a massive fire ball! If you have propane heating/gas appliances in your home is it required by law to have a Propane Detector in the residence in Bellevue?

Im not sure to be honest with you, i believe code enforcement and the fire marshalls would know but i personally dont. I believe most people in my town use gas or electric appliances. This was a propane tank used by workers on the roof. From what i saw and heard this fire was free burning half an hour before we were called. I know on arrival fire was through the roof. It was a good save.
