In Haiti's earthquake zone aid groups have stepped up efforts to get food to more than two million people and avoid the scenes of chaos that have sometimes accompanied the distribution of aid.

As part of the efforts relief agencies introduced a new approach using a system of coupons, and passing out food directly to women.

Officials say women are the primary caregivers in most households and less likely to be aggressive in aid lines.

Al Jazeera's Monica Villamizar reports from Port-au-Prince. (01 Feb, 2010)
