  • All Darwin Porter does is make up lies about people. All of his books are complete fiction. I warn everyone to either avoid his work or read it as entertainment only.

  • Darwin Porter's "Merv" book makes some highly dubious claims about dozens of stars--all of them long dead--assuring no lawsuits of course. If you enjoy books full of vulgar language, make-believe conversations and alleged quotes that are all phallic-obsessed, then this waste of paper is for you.

  • The word used to be "You don't get on Merv Griffin till you get on Merv Griffin."

  • I am reading this book now and it is absolutely enthralling! It's one of the best books of this type that I've ever read. I can't wait to read some of Darwin's other books. Much praise to a well-written and revealing portrait of a very interesting subject!

  • Griffin wasn't alone. Raymond Burr, Tab Hunter, Montgomery Clift and of course

Rock Hudson all made efforts to conceal their "gaiety" in the 1950s.

  • Merv had a lovely bunch of coconuts, as the song goes...

When I was an adolescent, the advertisement for his late-night talk show advised, "Don't go to bed without Merv!" If we only knew.

  • Elvis had been around for years by 1959?

  • I don't like for anyone to stay in the closet, but I respect anyone's right to do so.

  • Hi Danforth

Loved the biographies on Howard Hughes and Marlon Brando. Darwin Porter did a superb job!! Looking forward to the Newman biography coming out next month?
