Mr. Mertens always sings Bach with such simplicity and clarity. Thank you for posting this lovely piece.

A beautifully understated and intimate performance.

@halloerde I'll take the bel-canto but you can keep the vibrato. :)

And do not forget the old Fischer Dieskau recording with Karl Richter's orchestra. It is not a "small ensemble" but a very worthy performance. DiFiDi's voice quality is absolutely superb.

Absolutely gorgeous.

¿Alguien puede subir por favor una versión de la Oxford scuola cantorum interpretada por Nicholas Gedge? No es perfecta pero es la que mas aprecio

The bass line is there, but it's probably reduced by the crunching needed for videos on YouTube. Also, computers notoriously have poor speakers. I have a pair of external ones but they have to be small because there's not a lot of space to put them so they're pretty awful. (And that's probably being kind to them. *G*)

Annoying, isn't it? I wish they would keep their cameras focused where they should be: on the singer and the musicians.

Thank you, Thomas. I'm used to Hunt-Liberson but this is lovely. I do prefer the smaller ensemble. I love the clarity it brings to the musical line, the feeling of intimacy and the poignancy it adds to the words: Fall asleep, you weary eyes, close softly and pleasantly! World, I will not remain here any longer, I own no part of you that could matter to my soul. Here I must build up misery, but there, there I will see sweet peace, quiet rest.

Great, love it! If the spelling of the video's title is corrected, people searching for "Ich habe Genug" could find this video. The interpretation is fantastic. More!

You are probably right about the search. Though... this is the correct spelling of the original cantata. We will try to combine the two worlds then. thank you.
