ohh This music rings a bell! It was the opening tune of a series that I used to watch back then when I was five or six, something about a valley, The Secret Valley I think -But I had no idea that it was actually an Australian folk song =).
-
My parents love this song, they learnt it on their first (and so far only) visit to Australia back in 1981 just before I was born!
I'm from India btw.

And so the Aussie sits there And he starts to think a bit Thought he'd make a song That his mates could enjoy So he thought up a song And it didn't take him very long (Falcetto) AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI Love this song, go aussie!!!! MORE SENSE OF HUMOUR MORE SENSE OF HUMOUR WHY HAVE THE POMS GOT MORE HUMOUR THAN ME Cos I'm thick as a brick I'm a seventh generation skip That's why the poms got more humour than me

Once a jolly Aussie sat down at a cricket match Sat in the shade of the BARMY ARMY And he sat and he sighed and then the poor Aussie cried Why have the Poms got more humour than me? MORE SENSE OF HUMOUR MORE SENSE OF HUMOUR WHY HAVE THE POMS GOT MORE HUMOUR THAN ME Cos I'm thick as a brick I'm a seventh generation skip That's why the poms got more humour than me

This iconic song in its description was probably true and it did happened in the old days.
Similarly the Aboriginal people has theirs too.
