The Jonathan Hock documentary "Through the Fire" tracks the Coney Island product's evolution from high school phenom to NBA lottery pick. Along the way, Telfair contemplates a scholarship offer from Rick Pitino at the University of Louisville, struggles with the violence of his Brooklyn neighborhood and consumes himself with the desire to get his family out of the projects.

Having seen cousin and NBA star Stephon Marbury make it, Telfair knows big league dreams are within reach. However, Telfair's greatest source of inspiration is his older brother Jamel Thomas, who serves as a cautionary tale of just how elusive an NBA career can be.

  • He should of went and played at Louisville atleast two yrs it would of benefit him for sure.

  • @PyroBoxing hmmm idk but for him his situation was helping out his family. A kid fresh out of high school with millions of dollars handed to him to dribble a ball, you know he's going to take it. Some people's goals are just to make it in the NBA while others are to make a name in the NBA like kobe....honestly if it was me though and I was in his shoes, I would've gone to the NBA because even though he hasn't settled on a team yet, hes basically getting paid for being mediocre

  • @MrJtotheohnnn But if you were in the situation wouldn't you want to improve your game even if it risks injury?

  • @PyroBoxing at the same time he could've been injured which pretty much fucks up his situation to get drafted and plus supporting his family was the biggest concern for him at the time...

  • @Silverpatrone15 That wasn't why many people wanted him to go to college... Rick Pitino would have improved his game and could have doubled his NBA salary.

  • @dominsmith word and u can twist it in different ways. His shit went out not in like usual ankle sprains. my shit hurt right now lol

  • Y'all some dumb asses. Do you know how much ankle injuries hurt? An ankle sprain hurts like fuck and he played the damn game out. Dumb hatin ass bitches.

  • I hate when non playin bball mf's talk shit.. Ankle injuries hurt like HELL.. He actually finished the game.. That says A LOT about his heart.. I couldn't have finished that game

  • goosebumps at 2:35!!!

  • He never went to college anyway u retard
