Komeda was once Sweden's, and the world's, most wonderful and interesting bands. They had a unique expression. Influenced by Modern Kraut, Velvet Underground and orchestral music for silent films, the music that they produced were often at the same time strange and straight-forward pop gems.
There is something unexpectedly lyrical and melancholy about their clear-cut guitar riffs in combination with the singer's no-nonsense texture-less singing style. Part of this is because of the simple, wonderfully everyday poetical lyrics.
Why aren't they more famous and remembered? After all, they taught Stereolab everything Stereolab knows! (OK, the last statement may be too bold to actually be true.)
This upload, from the album The Genius of Komeda — the pinnacle of their career — will at least up Komeda's YT presence, of which there is alarmingly little. The name of the band is taken from the film music composer Krzysztof Komeda, with whom they share a lot musically. However, they are not him!
Agree w/all said above....even the Stereolab comment. I've never...I repeat NEVER heard any band like this anywhere. They were/are/is/am/will be unique & brilliant!

That's no exaggeration up there. They really were the world's most interesting band in the 90's!
