I saw them play my high school in grade 10 which would have been 1986. They smoked weed in the boy's lockeroom and were never invited back. Most students hated them, I thought they were great. Did some Howlin' Wolf , Doors, Stones....

I got the chance to see the Hip at really small venue in Austin, Texas called stubs BBQ back in the late 90s. Still one of the best shows I have ever seen.
