Stadtbahn / U-Bahn Stuttgart Charlottenplatz

Samstag Nachmittag am Charlottenplatz in Stuttgart. Die Züge auf der Linie U6 und U7, die hier verkehren, fahren in Doppeltraktion. Man sieht verschiedene Typen von Fahrzeugen: Die älteren Düwag DT 8.4 und ein neuer Zug der Reihe DT 8.10.

Außerdem finden an dieser Station die Fahrerwechsel statt, deshalb stehen die Züge teilweise etwas länger.

This is on a saturday afternoon at Stuttgart Charlottenplatz station. You can see various types of tramcars. The older Düwag DT 8.4 cars and also a newer DT 8.10 type tram.

that's prob why German cities are so awesome.. the public transport system is so efficient in every city that even in the smaller cities they have at least an S-Bahn system and a bus/U-Bahn/tram system..

In Deutschland wurde die erste S-Bahn in Berlin als "Stadtbahn" bezeichnet, auch zu sehen an den Zügen der BR165 der "Bauart Stadtbahn". Andere Bezeichnungen, wie Stadtschnellbahn und Schnellbahn entstanden erst später, im süd- bzw. westdeutschen Raum.

Ja genau, und in Stuttgart, München und in anderen Städten wo die BR420, 423, usw in Betrieb sind, heisst des meistens "Schnellbahn." Unsere "Stadtbahn" hier in Stuttgart ist ja als U Bahn bezeichnet, wobei das "U" für "Unabhängig" und nicht "Untergrund" steht. Also die ganze Sache ist schon ein Bisschen subjektiv. Wollte nur sagen, dass das mit "Suburban" ned stimmt, aber anscheinend weisst du das :-)

And I too am sorry because you're wrong as well. The "S" in S Bahn stands for "schnell" meaning fast, not suburban. This signifies the fact that although they are technically light rail trains, they run on standard Deutsche Bahn railways and are capable of 140kmh, and able to reach top speed within 40 seconds, making connections to city districts much faster than an U Bahn or Tramway. I´m sorry you´re wrong!

"S" mean "S-Bahn", but it stands for suburban train and it runs normally on the surface. Just in same bigger Citys it´s leaded in underground to save space.

"U"/"U-Bahn" is the Underground, that´s right.

And there is a third typ of light rail it´s called "Stadtbahn" it´s a mixture of streetcar and suburban train or/and underground. It´s coll because, in the city it runs streetcar rails and change then to the suburban train rail system so can ...
