@WraithWanderer please don't exaggerate. HMS Pinafore is 130 not 500 years old. Repetitions by the chorus are an essential part of many G & S songs. In the case of the character Sir Joseph Porter who sings this song, the intended chorus comprises his cousins, his sisters and his aunts - you can count them by the dozens.

@SAMDACODM0NTAGE How do you know that? I could say you are a nerd because you have the word montage in your name.

Gilbert and Sullivan were to the British as Offenbach was to the French, they mocked the bourgeois class and rules. Offenbach was once asked if he wasn't worried that he would offend his audiences. He said "no", they always think that I am talking about someone else.

lol wow... this song is like 500 years old but it's so awesome for some reason :D lol I'm sorry but the girls kinda ruin it :/

He's not acting in the musical, he's singing the song. I thought his little gestures added a nice liveliness to it.

It's ironic to see what was once a near-scandalous (to the Victorians who saw it) satire presented at a black tie recital.
