For Spring/Summer 2011, an ethical and environmental, sophisticated
collection, inspired by 80's and 90's Katharine Hamnett archive styles.
A glamorous, sexy and responsible collection for women, rigorously sourced
and composed of jeans, jumpsuits, dresses, shorts and jackets.
All items are made in sustainable fabrics including organic cotton and
silk, sustainable trims and a minimum amount of recyclable polyester. All
processing is in compliance with REACH legislation. All managed by state of
the art Italian expertise, to ensure perfect cut, fit and quality.
"I have called this collection, HERE COMES THE SUN because we receive
enormous amounts of free energy in the form of solar radiation, enough to fuel
the planet. We should exploit this and stop our dependence on crude oil
and unsafe technologies like nuclear. It is important as consumers
and voters that we all know the facts, and realise the immense power that
we have, so that we can do what is needed to save the world. Take action.
You can make the difference."
Katharine Hamnett
2.5% of the cost price of the collection goes to help farmers in West Africa
through the "Fashioning a Better Future" project set up by Katharine Hamnett.
Recently voted by New Consumer magazine as the 'No.1 Ethical Hero' and
regarded in the industry as "The Queen of Green" (Vogue UK).
Katharine Hamnett has been campaigning to clean up the clothing industry
since 1989 after she commissioned research into the impact of the clothing
and textile industry on the environment and the lives of garment workers, she
was appalled by the fact that conventional cotton farming kills between twenty
and forty thousand people per year due to accidental pesticide poisoning.
(Pesticide Action Network) Farming cotton organically changes this. Farmers
can increase their income by 50 per cent enabling them to feed, clothe their
families, school their children and afford healthcare.
