rigid,uncoordinated,tentative and overly concerned with being hit.They dont look like they could hurt if they tried.Of course if theyre beginners thats expected but ive never seen anyone use this method to attack effectively except rodney king and hes always shown sparring very low level partners so anyone would look good

any vids ive ever seen of cmd sparring looks incredibly awkward compared to regular average standard boxers.

Hey BillySue2.
This is a common comment in response to seeing CM by people more used to seeing boxing.
The focus on CM is defence first, which is why we see hunching the neck and keeping the hands up. This looks very different to boxing and, inaccurately, many people think this is tense. It's not. But it does take some time for people to relax into it.
As a coach I'd rather see awkward and safe in a beginner than loose and at risk. I'll take that trade.
