The play was written for Olivier Award winning stage and film actor Andrew Scott, most recently seen playing Moriarty opposite Benedict Cumberbatch's Holmes in Sherlock on BBC1, and star of Ibsen's "Emperor and Galilean " at the National Theatre.
Simon Stephens' Sea Wall premiered as a stage play at the Bush Theatre in London in 2008 to universal acclaim. It transferred with equal success to the Edinburgh Festival in 2009 where it sold out, and has now been made into a film as radical as it is humane.

This really is ACTING. That acting when you forget that the words the character is saying are not their own, when you forget that the words were written down and read and reread and learnt and relearnt-you just find yourself assuming that the character has pulled them out of the air like anyone would in normal conversation. What I wouldn't give to be able to act like this.

This is one of the purest pieces of genius I have ever seen. The writing is, quite frankly, cripplingly astonishing, and the performance by Mr Scott is no different. I feel privileged to have seen this.
