The Argo drifter buoy program, managed by NOAA, has deployed over 3,000 ocean buoys that take measurements of salinity, temperature, and velocity. After deployment, the buoys drift along with the currents and move up and down from the ocean surface to 2,000 meters providing real-time measurements on climate, circulation, chemistry, and ocean height to oceanographers and meteorologists.
