@5posom If the hammer is down (inside it) the gun can be cycled or "cocked" without any other step. Otherwise, if the chamber is loaded OR the hammer (inside) is "cocked" then you have to press the unlock.

Its pretty damned hard to "accidently" "cock" a pump shotgun.
