This is what fireworks look like from the sky! It's easier to see them from the ground, but there's something really cool about being able to fly over the city & see them going off every few blocks. There were also tons of white flashes from people setting off small fireworks at their houses, which you'll see if you watch in HD. This is the first time I've done a 4th of July flight and it was quite an experience!

Sorry for the shaky footage at the end. I was close to landing (no radar service & couldn't use my autopilot), so the airplane got the majority of my attention.

Three cheers for the air traffic controllers in SoCal and everywhere else. They sit in windowless rooms, regardless of whether it's a holiday or not, helping us to fly safely. They have hard jobs and they do them well.
