That tentacled horror gave me nightmares for years!!!

@TSconspiracy I agree. The unknown is what made it so scary.

Damn, I remember this scaring the crap out of me when it came out...

This is also the first episode of "Space: 1999" that I ever watched. I was around 12-14 years old, and the science of the monster intrigued me. How could something that radiates that much energy survive with so little food coming in? How did it move from one ship to another? Now, I look back and am reminded...the guy who played Julini made it all work. His awesome physical acting was what sold that horrible puppeteering. I wish I could have seen more of his work.

Best episode of the show and one of the scariest TV episodes of any kind.

That thing scared the crap out of me and I was about 4 years older than darthsideous 1968. Bad as the whole fried carcass thing was, the idea that this thing could just show up was worse.

The most notorious Space 1999 episode, guilty of traumatizing an entire generation of kids!

I was probably about four years old when I saw this episode. I had no idea what was going on, but it scared the everloving Hell out of me.
Then I saw the 'Devil in the Dark' episode of Star Trek. You know the one, with the man-eating deep-dish pizza.
Oh, and I had got hooked on Doctor Who at the same time, late Pertwee era and early Baker with the really freaky monsters.
Is it any wonder that I slept with a light on until I started sleeping with my first girlfriend?
