It's beyond belief that the people continue to fall for this "red herring" argument. Tort reform has zero to do with the high cost medical insurance, and it - once again - only benefits the moneyed interests to pursue it. The New York Times said this:
"According to the actuarial consulting firm Towers Perrin, medical malpractice tort costs were $30.4 billion in 2007, the last year for which data are available. We have a more than a $2 trillion health care system. That puts litigation costs and malpractice insurance at 1 to 1.5 percent of total medical costs. Thats a rounding error. Liability isnt even the tail on the cost dog. Its the hair on the end of the tail." http://ow.ly/pZLm
Meanwhile 100,000 people die a year from medical mistakes. Wake up people, and recognize another example of the Insurance Industry convincing you that something that is diametrically opposed to your own wellbeing and rights as a citizen, is the "only way" to reform Health Insurance. Don't let the Baucus bill ( or anything derived from it ) be a substitute for the real reforms needed.
True Colors: The motives ( race and greed ) driving HI reform debate, and the real need for Public Option http://ow.ly/p3p9

Settlements that are paid out due to malpractice suites equal roughly 1% annually of the total cost of healthcare. Republicans think this will bring costs down if we whittle it down to maybe, what-.1%? Meanwhile 100,000 people die annually in our system. Whenever you are arguing with a turd and they bring Tort reform up ask them how much their eyesight is worth to them."How much would you take to be rendered blind for life"? Ask 'em that. They usually shut up faster than a cat can lick its ass.
