This is my attempt at a curved screen, I made for less then 100 euro.
2 problem occurd:
1st the native resolution of the rent projector is to low (800X600). My eyes got tired very quickly.
2nd the focus. In the middle everything is readable, but at the top, bottom, left and right everything becomes blurry. Corner markers only readable if they are just in front of the car.

  • Thanks for the info, but the project is on hold at the moment. The beamer I used was a rental and there arn't enough funds around at the moment to buy one.

  • I build a frame from iron tubes. Then I put a polycarbonate plate on it, 2 or 3 milimeters thick. The frame is curved and tilted so you get the feeling your inside the cockpit of a car. On top of that polycarbonate plat I put a white shower curtain to get a kind of projection screen.

  • There is software that solves the focussing problem. You can find more about it at widescreengamingforum

  • On the projector there is a setting to flip the image.

  • You mean the light from the projector?

I raised the projector to about +2 meters so that hotspot wouldn't be right in your view.

  • @GPRTMexwall I would suggest using what is called "blackout cloth" from a fabric store. Its white and has a nice weight and texture.. I use it for my flight simulator.

  • diy...grab your monitor and bend it until u have your desired curve...simple as that

  • What material are you using?

  • Interesting idea. The focussing problem is a tough one. The plane of focus of course is flat and the sides of the screen are further away than the plane. The only way to overcome this would be with a special lens system.

  • This makes your room look small.

  • every is ultra quite them bam! keyboard hits floor or something eles is knocked over.
