Here is a simple test to demonstrate someone's ability to focus their Fa Jin through the end of a weapon. In this case a broadsword. Hui Kuk Chan's personal criteria to restrict his external power and make sure he is using his Fa Jin correctly and his internal power were stated by him to me as follows:
1. No need to warm up such as doing some deep breathing exercises;
2. The sword must be 2-3 inches above the walnut. Use a light wooden sword only.
(I do not know how high I placed my sword above the walnut but I think it was 2-3 inches.)
3. When the cut starts,
a). The hand and wrist cannot move
b). The knees do not bend
c). The body does not move
d). The only action one can see is the sword goes down
Have fun with it. Ask your Sifu to do it to see how they do it.
