There are fears Stockport could be turning into a Ghost town. For every shop that opens there - two are closing. It has one of the highest shop vacancy rates in the UK, and as Michael Billington reports, it seems other parts of Greater Manchester are faring badly too.

  • Surly the big brand stores are the ones to blame. A gregs could be opened and could still run even if it stregels to make a profit because of support from other store across the country but an indipendent bakery no profit no luck.

Then the bigger stores like tesco just make it worce.

What they really need is support for the indipendent places and penalisation on the bigger franchies.

But will that ever happen of cause not.

  • Great big Tesco has ruined Stockport...

  • Pound shops, scallies and Council parking policies have ruined this town.

  • BOB!!!
