Had been wanting to see an archlute played for a long time. Its sound is more powerful than I expected. Very cool vid.

Thanks. You can see on these videos of my "classic" archlute the extra long double courses on the fingerboard, approx 67 cm long, and the long single basses on the extension of the neck, approx 140 cm long. They give a powerful sound, useful for ensemble baroque music.
But this instrument has also a rich specific solo repertoire, mostly Italian baroque music, rather demonstrative, using its numerous extra-basses and its 4 octaves extend.

Hello, Lamberto. i have heard your keybord pieces on Youtube, so congratulations and thanks too for your beautiful Early Music.
My instrument is a 14-course Archlute by the lute-maker Gyorgy Lorinczi, in Romania.

Are you the player? What's the differencie between an archlute and a Theorbo?
meminio 5 years ago
Yes, I am...
They have not exactly the same tuning.
On the theorbo, the two first courses are lowered an octave. So, the archlute has an 4 octaves extend, one more hight octave than the theorbo.
