Coming From Beirut (Jayeh Min Beirut)
Lyrics: Abdel Rahman Al Abnoudi
Composer: Jamal Salameh
Coming From Beirut
Yelling in a loud voice
The dawn shall rise and color these houses
No matter how much the night darkens and how long the sorrow lasts
Those people do not die
Beirut does not die
Beirut, the land of songs, sea, harbors and the snow on the mountains
Beirut, the most beautiful city that used to look like a boat sailing in dreams
They closed its roads, put on its fire,
blew out its glamour and displaced its children
Lift up the foreign hands and leave the place
The saddest eyes are the eyes of Lebanon
Lebanon... O Lebanon
I wish I could liberate you with my voice
I wish I could revive you with my death
And bring back every fugitive and weep off the tears
But even when I scream, silence hushes me
You are playing with the fates of nations
Don't you get tired? You always start wars?
Lift up the foreign hands and leave the place
The saddest eyes are the eyes of Lebanon
No matter how much the night darkens and how long the sorrow lasts
Those people do not die
Beirut does not die
