I picked up this VHS tape at the thrift store because Phillipe Noret was in it. I liked him in some French movies. I had no idea what this movie was about but after seeing it (Theatrical version), it's defnitely in my all time top 10..beautiful score by Ennio Morricone

I want to see the original version, I saw the director's cut but all my friends say the original's a million times better.

simply the most honest and beautiful film about movies a person could make.
i grew up in a theater before the advent of the internet and such... my family has been in the biz for over 30 years no film comes close to this if you want to understand the passion of movies.

Cinema Paradiso is a film that arrives at the heart and they never stop living those you imagine in the memory, in certain way is part of my life, I have seen the film three times and when I see the end I always cry of the emotion and nostalgia, nothing is for always.

HangTheDJ16, I agree. And I've seen a lot of movies. pospsull2000, with all due respect, I would have given this seen a full 4 stars (out of 4) when seeing it in the theatre. Now, I would give it 10 stars.

@popskull2000 Thank you for your post. It caused me to go get a copy of the director's cut version of the film. I saw the shorter version and enjoyed it but you are so correct. The full length version is so superior and wonderful. it's probably one of my most favorite films of all time.

Yes when I saw the Theater version I would have given it 2.5 stars out or 4. But after seeing the uncut version I had to give it the full 4 stars. And it has become one of my favs also.
