Henry Mancini and His Orchestra perform John Barry's famous 1969 composition "Midnight Cowboy." I recorded this track from the double LP, "This Is Henry Mancini," RCA (VPS-6029). Mancini is the pianist in this recording. The 1969 film for which the score was written won three Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
"Hey! I'm walking here"
My brother who passed a few years ago would sneak me into films like this, I mean I was 16. Back then this was an X rated film and now way could I have gotten in to see it. So every time I hear this score it brings back some good memories. BTW, a film like this today would probably only get a PG-13.
