@olivesmarch4th Therapists are rarely lazy. Doing exposure therapy provokes anxiety in both the patient and the therapist, and many therapists don't want to go through it. It's also easier to sell "talk therapy" to clients than this tough kind of exposure therapy. It's hard work, it's confronting, and it's usually terrifying. But yes, it does work, and the gains tend to remain in the long term :-)

I had exposure therapy 4 years ago and I am still anxiety free. The idea that evidence-based treatments such as exposure therapy do not work in the long term is false (or better said, outdated.) There is plenty of evidence that this works long-term. I am tired of lazy therapists spreading these lies about evidence-based treatments. Go read a scholarly journal or something, would it kill you?
