May 22, 2008 - Michael Ryan, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist with Ryan & Ryan Psychological Associates in Grand Rapids, Michigan, discusses our returning war veterans and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I am a Viet nam veteran and found this to be very informative and helpful to exactly what I am experiencing. What I have is a terrible daily irregular heartbeat that can begin if I only "think" about my problems or situations. My anxiety and Hyper-vigilance will lead me to an early grave.
I have PTSD, only just figured out what I have a few months back. Thought I was crazy for a long time. I want to get help. But I guess if I do, i'll be admitting to having a mental disorder. Its just hard because I've never had a problem like this before. Most problems can be solved by external factors... not internal. I've ditched my family, freinds and taken to drinking heavely. But I do intend to get help. Thanks for helping me understand myself guys!
