Klai Kangwon Palace
Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand
February 28, 2009
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo together with the other ASEAN leaders participating in the 14th ASEAN Summit personally met with Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit of Thailand at the Klai Kangwon Palace in Hua Hin District.
Their third child, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn accompanied their Majesties the King and Queen in receiving the ASEAN heads of state/government.
King Bhumibol, meaning 'strength of the land with incomparable power,' is the third and youngest child of Their Royal Highnesses Prince and Princess Mahidol of Songkhla and the direct grandson of His Late Majesty King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) who was renowned for the great reforms that he made to all Thai institutions. We should at least give thanks for what Arroyo has done for the country. The Philippines has enjoyed an unprecedented economic growth because of her leadership. For those politicians who criticize her, they are just being insecure about her achievements. Let us unite and help rebuild the new Philippines.

It's puzzling to me that the powerful General Prem TInsulanonda is seen here introducing himself to ASEAN leaders. One would have thought that if one is a leader of an ASEAN nation, he would have at least heard of Prem, as he would be expected to have heard of Mahathir Mohamad or Fidel Ramos, for example.

I'm really glad that Their Majesties the King and Queen as well as HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn look well.
