Honestly though, The only benefit I see to using STG is the fact that I use Deep Water Culture, and it wouldn't hold stagnate, uncirculated solution. I would imagine that this might also be a good thing for block growers but, I would think that because it doesn't hold as much water I may need to top my system off high enough to touch my clone insert. Because of this, I'm not sure an NTF system would be the best combination with STG.

This spring I am going to construct a carnivorous plant terrarium. They require NO nutrients so this isn't an issue. However, the system will incorporate a small pump (92gph) I intend to sort of box in the pump with STG. Then, I will layer rock wool on top of this...........because I want the wicking action of rock wool. Am I thinking correctly?

@winterfritz1 Yes, STG is free draining, it will hold 30-50 times its weight in water, but will also allow new water to replace old.We have some early videos that demonstrate this action.
