Hall of Fame basketball coach Lute Olson was the head coach of the men's basketball program from 1983 - 2008. During that time he took the team, the university, and Tucson on a magical ride that included 24 straight NCAA Tournament appearances and one national title in 1997.
This ceremony honored Coach Olson's dedication, commitment, success and achievements during his tenure as head coach.
The ceremony was held at halftime of the CAL/Arizona basketball game on Thursday March 5, 2009.
Here is the event as covered by those of us fortunate enough to be part of the FSN TV crew that night.
I used to work for UA and had alot of chances to talk to Lute and shake his hand and he never by-passed me like he was in a hurry, he would always stop and acknowledge me. He put Tucson on the map and Arizona Basketball on a nationally recognized level. A true class act - Go CATS! One more shout out to his side kick Jim Rosborough, sometimes overlooked because of Lutes success but also a huge part of the UA program.

Even though I'm not a Cats fan, this video is awesome. Saw it during gameday and is very fitting for an amazing coach like Lute. Good luck to you guys.
