I try to contact the Cambridge University Wireless Society operation from Ascension Island (ZD8UW) using just 40W, battery power and a mobile whip antenna.

    Yes, Martin G3ZAY (the operator there) knows the QTH here and it was actually his suggestion before they left that I drive up the hill. I don't think he expected me to make it, though.
