electromagnetic valves 6 stroke engine

fun fact: the heavy diesel world is already using piezoelectric solenoids in fuel injectors and valves. Volvo and Caterpillar have teamed up to capitalize on it. the benefits of this are improved fuel metering leading to more power and fuel economy, lowered emissions, and the ability to just shut off entire cylinders on the exhaust stroke, turning the cylinder into a pneumatic spring to assist on the downstroke, thus allowing an eight or six cylinder engine to function like a four cylinder.

this is toyota 2e head?

I had a similar idea in my head for years, however it uses a trap door instead of traditional valves

Sadly electromagnetic actuators are very sensitive to heat and vibration hence why F1 moved to pneumatic system which also doubles for transmission shifts. So far pneumatic systems are still the best for high heat, high rpm race situations.
But maybe someday someone will perfect electromagnetic system ... but that day might not come before we run out of oil or fuel costs reach a point where oil based engines are just too expensive to operate.

@rhysc375 no they dont you dipstick,
they use Pneumatic valve springs, instead of coiled metal wire, aka springs.
think before you speak

@thdmtr Formula 1 cars use this method you dipstick.

too bad, thats not reliable.

It is funny that the surface of the Sun is 6000 deg. either fahrenheit or celcius. And the crust of the sun is ferric oxide. It would be like not picking up your dogs' shit to say these guys can't make a thermally stable solenoid actuated valvetrain. They will do it, and revolutionize the auto industry. Solid state alternators the size of a headlamp relay are also possible. Frequency makes it possumbull.

Not a bad ideal, but u'll need 2 work out the bugs of needing 2 maintain a hi temp n the cylinder 4 combustion & need maintain a low enough temp below Curie point 4 the valve 4 them 2 work electromagnetically.
Variable valve timing at its best.

pretty soon computer nerds are going to be working on engines, because normal mechanics cant do all the electronic crap.
