I tried to explain most imporant things that helped me to learn an aerial.
You might think that when I do it full speed, I don't go up as much as I'm showing, but that is kinda hint you have to have in mind and try to go as up as possible. You have to soar in mind and then you'll do it ;) Wish good luck and btw sorry for my english, it's not so good, but hopefully you'll get it right.

  • do you have to be flexible to do this?

  • @monnyg1 yes it does help a lot, but it is not the most important attribute, you can sure do it without "extreme" flexibility, however then you will have to jump higher and/or faster ;)

  • if you fall wrong it can be really dangerous, what cant I do to minimiz that risk?

  • @bea199912 Well, try it first on mattresse and maybe also use some boxes or anything that gives you higher point from which you can jump and fall back on your legs. Check my other video "How to do a Cartwheel without hands" where I use both these things. There you can fall as many times you wish until you learn the move proper ;)

  • do you have an accent? i cant understand a single thing. "den, swo, dyoo go lite dis" i started cracking up laughing

  • @talentedlegend Man I am European, so yes, my native language isn't English and I'm just spreading already very spread language which is called "baaaad english" :D Well at least you had fun, but now after I was an exchange student in the US my skills got a lot better ;) :)

  • nice one u r awesome!!! really i like u

  • I have 300 gym students that only train once a week for 45 minutes a day. I just had my first 2nd grade student land one that I have had. Most of my students land their aerial when they are in 4th or 5th grade since we are a non competetive gym school.

I use a basic 4x8 mat folded up on top of a row of mats. I teach them the importance of using their front leg as their power, and to kick their back leg hard. We start off by doing elbow cartwheels so that they don't get hurt.

  • Because an aerial is a cartwheel without hands

  • stupid question byt do uhav to be able to do a cartwheel to do this?

  • @JohnnyLee18 ok thanks n nice vid
