Tom & Alice after Addie's death

During Day's 25th anniversary in autumn 1990, Alice (Frances Reid) has a flashback to her and Tom (Macdonald Carey) dealing with Addie's death. Addie Horton Olson Williams was played by Patricia Huston and Patricia Barry, and died in 1974.

it also sheds light on julie's character too-0why she might have actted the way she diod in certain situations. I'm not condoning all of her actions-just stepping back & looking at the entire picture. That fact alone is why we need soaps to stay on the air. They can teach us to empathize with others & reform our own flawed conduct.

Don't get me wrong I liked Patricia Huston & Patricia Barry as actresses (Barry is one of my favorites). I also think Addie adored Hope-obviously she did or she wouldn't have pushed the carriage out of the way. Had she lived she might have been a better mother to her than to Julie. However, I'm tired of people always trying to make it seem like Addie was this saint

all the while sticking her nose up at her daughter's con artist lover Doug Williams. Then she takes asdvantage of the tiff between Julie & doug & basically bribes Doug to marry her. Wow! What a mother! Addie was downright creepy. Hope's birth-Doug being her father & Julie being her sister is strrange. Doesn't anyone else think so?

I'm glad Addie & Julie reconciled before her death. Everyone always points out Julie's shortcomings  let's look at her mother's for a minute. Addie was originally a self-centered, competitive, jealous bitch. She abandoned her daughter in 1966 & never even bothered to come back to Salem until 5 years later. Then she tells Julie she's lucky that a man of Scott Banning's caliber would have anything to do

I saw a photo of Regina Gleason who portrayed Kitty Hiortron. She was an attractive blonde...sorta cold looking. She sort of reminded me of Barbara Stanwyck. Her character was pretty sleazy. Apparently she slept with everyone. Do you remember Tommy & Kitty's daughter sandy? Sandy was portrayed by Heather North-who  was the voice behind Daphne on the cartoon series "Scooby Doo". i read that she is 60 years old now.

@tallulah1961 I remember Kitty a little. The actress who played her was very good. I remember Kitty dying of a heart attack during an argument with Bill when she was blackmailing him with a tape recording she had of Tom Sr. & Laura talking about the fact that Bill was Michael's father. Bill went to prison for manslaughter (and that's where he met Doug).
