Dr. Dog's third and most recent album, Fate, has been spinning constantly at my house. Fate seems to be the effort in which Dr. Dog brings their many influences together into their own true sound. After years as a dutiful support act (opening tours for such heavyweights as My Morning Jacket, The Raconteurs and The Black Keys), slowly building their own loyal following, grinding it out, the Philadelphia psych-pop band set out on their first tour as a headliner this year and absolutely killed it! They have found their footing, come into their own, and are are truly a headliner-worthy band.

Before their sold-out MOKB sponsored show at Radio Radio, the band stopped by our VIBES II performance space to play some selections from the new album. When they saw our open performance space and graffiti mural (or "satanic backdrop" as they refer to it), they immediately began scouring the premises for "set" pieces and props. Ladders, milk crates, mirrors and even shrubbery from outside became part of the show. Much like Dr. Dog's music, our space slowly became a collage of odds and ends that the band blended with and became a part of.

  • I love Dr.Dog! -3

  • cory kennedy right there

  • How can it be that a fish in the sea, can feel like it's completely alone.

What a great song. It does seem to overstretch the vocals a little though.

    I'll let them off.

  • Seriously their live sound might out-do their studio stuff.

  • @rorytheboy no problem. I wrote that comment about the glasses a very long time ago. Dr Dog had been together for many years and wore the same thing way back before they ever had videos and TV gigs. When they started getting noticed on video and TV, people started criticizing it because by then, many bands were getting into that retro look. I was just saying that Dr. Dog was doing that before it became "popular" again. Lots of bands and music has become retro and they dress that way now.

  • @HelenKellersArmy did @talkrite mention "backslash" heee. J/k @talkrite I love you.

  • its actually the fourth

  • @talkrite

  • agreed, i don't like that so many bland radio bands try to take the style of bands like this. i mean, not hating on radio.. to each their own but Dr. Dog's songs mean more to their fans than the songs of those other bands that have "the look", but whos music is forgotten in a monrth or two.
