Mega Man X No Dash/Minimalist Challenge - Sting Chameleon

Part 5 of the MMX no dash/minimalist challenge.

NOTE: This commentary is OPTIONAL. Check the video response beneath this video for a music-only version of the stage.

This is a run through X1, in its entirety, under the following restrictions: no upgrades/items, damage (save for both encounters witht Vile), or weapons. No dash is an obvious by-product in this game, although no dashing is going to continue as a restriction for the X2 and 3 versions of the challenge.

I appreciate the thoughtfulness of you uploading silent versions of these, but who in their right mind wouldn't want to watch these while hearing your wonderfully melancholy voice cynically narrate these?

I'm curious, since you're such a fan of extreme pain, if you play that OTHER masochist genre: bullet-hell shooters (Touhou Project?).

I doubt that the attack is really programmed to create a sweet spot - it's something you rationalize after the event, because a randomized distribution with a small sample size is inevitably going to be uneven, while humans love to look for patterns.

By the way, another long, slow but safe method you can use for the rocks is to let them stack up and tunnel under the top layer. I remember as a wee child, waiting for them to fill the whole tunnel so I could change the background to the "ruined" sprite instead of the "pristine" one. And yes, I know you knew about it- maybe some other people didn't.
