Paragliding ground handling and slope launch, in light variable thermic x-wind conditions. While earlier at car park level we had a fairly steady 'base' breeze through the 'gap', with no real 'pressure wind' today the launch required waiting (and timing) the thermic cycles, the best slope (at launch) was 45* to the left of the thermic wind direction!

(Filmed on Murray's head cam.) to land on the hill above the valley road

  • In the skiing season:-

The chairlift (single seats) on the Cairnwell takes you up 1,000ft on the other side of the road the (double chair) chairlift takes you up 400ft, both have a short walk to launch, other tows require skis which is why I've so many sizes of 'Tourlite' ski boots & short fat 'twin tip' skis :-)

  • Looks like a great site, I'll have to get back over there :)

  • Hi Fegrus, during a break earlier (when we were at the car park / more wind/lift to work) I launched from road level and flew most of the way to this level :-)

Then back to just below/left of the car park ;-)

  • An Ozone Vibe, I had one of those wings. A very predicable wing but has a tendency to overfly the pilot when launching and do a front tuck. Ozone corrected that 'issue' when they started making the Ozone Rush wing.

Nice upload and an excellent launch site !
