You might have noticed that Ubuntu has a very low microphone volume by default. This quick tutorial shows you how to make your microphone record at a higher volume.

  • im using ubuntu 9.10 ( gnome ) and when i go to sound preferences i dont have playback or any of what you have. message me or reply if you cant help please.

  • Try going to System > Preferences > Sound. There should be an "Input" tab in the Sound Preferences. In the Input tab will be a slider. Try sliding that to see if your microphone volume increases.
